Hello and welcome to the Tom Ryder Wellbeing blog. In this blog I will be discussing all things mental health and wellbeing, hoping to guide you on your path to resilience and happiness.
I thought it would be best to kick off with an introduction. Who am I, and what motivates me to do what I do?
My name is Tom Ryder and I am a Wellbeing Coach. I’m also a professional musician and a trained journalist. Oh, and I teach guitar and voice. Life is busy! But I am particularly excited for my latest venture Tom Ryder Wellbeing as it brings together my key skills and enables me to meet a wide and varied range of people, such as you reading my words right now.
It is worth noting that I have also led a creative mental wellbeing charity called Retune for the last eight years. We have had some astonishing experiences with the charity, visiting primary and secondary schools, hospitals, prisons and businesses, educating and entertaining audiences around mental health, while putting on some fantastic live shows too. I am evolving the workshops with Tom Ryder Wellbeing and, in many ways, the workshops are the best way to get an insight into the work I do. The sessions include live performances, plenty of discussion and participation for attendees.
At Retune, I developed The SCALES Model. SCALES is a set of strategies and tools that enable you to thrive and live a healthier life. The model has six ‘strings’ that must be ‘kept in tune’ in order to feel more balanced and in emotional harmony.
The strings are Sleep, Creative, Active, Listen, Earth and Social. You can read more about SCALES here(link to SCALES page).
To manage your mental wellbeing, you need to ensure that you are getting enough, high quality sleep, you must have a creative outlet that you can turn to, you must stay active, listen to your body, stay earthed and remain social. SCALES is a roadmap that allows you to live a happier life, being sure to monitor each string and play in tune. I’d very much appreciate the chance to meet you and explain the system in more detail.
Play In Tune is the title of my comprehensive and introductory workshop. Why not book me to come and share it with you?
Do check out the site and if you have any questions email tom@tomryderwellbeing.co.uk or call 07739 469321. I look forward to hearing from you.
